Marketers unite and be informed on the latest trends

TikTok is still the undisputable coolest kid.

The video-sharing platform - TikTok - took the social media by storm and won the hearts of the Millennials and Gen Z population.

Since 2016, TikTok’s popularity has been the rise. All jump on the bandwagon.

So, we, marketers, are wondering where TikTok is heading in 2022. Aside from this fearless forecast from App Annie, we should also watch out for these 4 TikTok trends in 2022.

1. Stitch and Duets on the rise

Adding to its existing features, Stitch and Duets are also gaining popularity and space on your TikTok feed.

“Stitch is a way to reinterpret and add to another user's content, building on their stories. Every video made with Stitch attributes the original creator in the new video's caption, and the caption attribution links directly to the original, clipped video,” said TikTok.

Furthermore, they added, “Duets allow creating new and unique content in collaboration with creators across the platform. New layouts open doors to all kinds of creativity. Whether side-by-side or up-down, users can find new ways to interact with videos and reinvent existing content from across TikTok.”

Did you know that 43% of engaged TikTok users uploaded a Duet video so far?

That’s huge!

To add to that, Duets and Stitch also prove to increase reach and engagement. Just look at this TikTok Stitch from Puma.

2. Increase popularity of Live Sessions

Although not the pioneer of doing “Live” sessions, TikTok users found that the platform’s new and inventive way of doing these sessions spice it all up. According to TechCrunch, “the number of people going live and the number of people watching live videos had doubled over the last year.”

This further proves that video content is the future of social media marketing.

TikTok didn’t stop at launching these live sessions. They went ahead and promoted co-hosting of live videos. Now, after its success, TikTok is considering having multiple hosts.

3. Growth of TikTok ads

According to CloudFlare, TikTok is the most visited domain - surpassing Google and Facebook. 2022 forecast from TechCrunch also noted that TikTok will be the 3rd largest social network - behind Facebook and Instagram, consecutively.

Given these reasons make TikTok a giant in the social media scene. So, advertisers flock its way from left to right everyday.

If you’re an advertiser and you’re not yet convinced based on those, I don’t know with you.

4. Staying authentic

After all the studies and statistics, I’m sure you’ll download TikTok now.

But…

Let’s not forget that the platform is still dominated by content creators - be it an individual, friends, team, or brand.

There are also some well-known brands that are not jumping into TikTok’s bandwagon - like Zoom who admitted that one of their 2021 challenges was launching their own account.

So, be it a plan, strategy, or tactic, staying authentic or true to yourself in creating TikTok videos is still a trend.

Final Thoughts

The digital world is ever-evolving. Apps are emerging here and there. But they can also disappear like bubbles in thin air.

TikTok is just one social media channel you and your team can explore.

These trends may change in the future.

So, research, plan, and strategize to gain competitive advantage and conquer TikTok - or any social media platform for that matter.
